Girmaye Misgna is the Mapping & Geospatial Data Librarian in the Research Data and Digital Scholarship center of the Penn Libraries at the University of Pennsylvania.
Penn Libraries serves as the central place of GIS and mapping support for the whole campus and Girmaye provides research consultation and training services to faculty, staff, and students who are engaging with spatial methods, bringing deep technical expertise in both GIS and Mapping application development to that work. He enjoys the daily interaction with the campus community across all disciplines and the everyday new learning experience associated with it.
Before coming to Penn, Girmaye was a Researcher and GIS Lab Manager in the Environmental Resources and Policy Program at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geology and in Applied Geology (Engineering and Hydrogeology focus) from Addis Ababa University and M.S. in Geography (GIS focus) from SIU Carbondale.
